ROY - Albert Ray Garcia passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on April 6, 2015. Albert was a loving example to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was born in Glencoe, Colorado in 1927, to Marcos and Jesucita Garcia. In 1945, Albert joined the U.S. Army and served during WWII in Europe. He remained proud of his military service until his passing. Albert married Julia Vigil in June of 1951 in Ogden, Utah. Together, during their 63 year marriage, they raised 5 children, John (Mandy), Lawrence "Bud" (Lois), Lloyd Vincent "Vince" (Ruth), Cathy (Matt Gendron), and Tim (Leslie). Additionally Albert leaves behind 16 Grandchildren, 13 Great-grandchildren, and countless "adopted" sons and daughters who remain an important part of the family. After a full career, Albert retired from the Defense Mapping Agency, where he worked as a Bindery Finisher. He was a man of strong faith and a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church where he was part of the Ushers group, Men's club, Assistant Scout Master and Knights of Columbus. Community Service was equally important, and led to his involvement in the Elks Club, Board Member of the Ogden Community Action Program, as well as one of the original coaches of the American Youth Soccer Association in Ogden. Albert was preceded in death by all of his 9 brothers and sisters and one grandson.

His commitment to his family was his highest calling and most beloved legacy.

Visitation Services will be held on Sunday, April 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Myers Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West in Roy, Utah followed by Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 13th at 11:00 am at St Mary's Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven, Utah, with final interment at the Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden where Military Honors will be accorded.
