1954 - 2015

Our loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend passed away peacefully at home July 29, 2015 surrounded by family. He fought a courageous battle with congestive heart failure, COPD along with a 32 year back injury. He was born May 23, 1954 in Auburn, New York. He met the love of his life Debra Keyes, in April 1971. He knew right away he would marry her; they were married August 15, 1973 in Salt Lake City and were happily married for 42 years.

Al valued time with family and friends. His passions where camping with friends and family. Family was everything to him, as he was everything to his family. Al left a lasting impression to all those he knew with love and words of wisdom. Not only was he this way with people, but also animals, as he was the keeper of all animals. Al was a man of many talents; woodworking, chess, green thumb, problem solving, poker, fishing, hunting and the master of old music. His motto was everything could be fixed with a hay rope, duck tape or a popsicle stick. Al accepted everyone for who they were and would do anything to see you smile.

He is survived by his wife, Debra; daughter, Vicki (Robert) Brierley; son, Nicholas (NaCie) Grant; grandchildren, Wyatt, Waylon, Weston Brierley and Layla Grant. Also survived by his brothers, William (Carol) Corp, Kevin (Susan) Grant; sisters, Pat (Dwight) Elliott, Valarie (Glenn) Blake, Cheryl (Ken) Poulsen; extended family branch, Paul and Julie Davis, Lora (Dan) Jaterka, Shannon (Mike) Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Dougal Grant; mother, Esther Harriett Storen; brother, Frank Edward Perkins and sister, Linda Marie Grant.

The family wishes to thank all those who helped and have been so kind. A special thank you to the Encompass Hospice team.

A viewing will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Coalville Stake Center. Funeral Services will be held on August 7, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Coalville Stake Center with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment at the Coalville Cemetery.
