Alice Rawlings Mikesell

ALICE RAWLINGS MIKESELL

ROY - Alice Rawlings Mikesell, born August 23, 1925, in Fairview, Idaho, to Oscar Richard Rawlings and NaVella Wiser Rawlings, returned home to her Heavenly Father, April 22, 2009.

Alice grew up in Fairview, Idaho, on the family farm where she learned that you could work hard and still have lots of fun. She was known as the peacemaker of her family. After graduating form Preston High School, Alice moved to Ogden, Utah and worked at DDO. This is where she met her husband Robert Lee Mikesell. They were married October 1, 1946, and later sealed in the Logan Temple.

Alice was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had the opportunity to serve in every organization. Alice had a special love for the Relief Society. She loved the people she served with and was able to serve about 20 years in Relief Society throughout her life.

Alice lived most of her married life in Brawley, California. In 1972, Alice's husband Robert passed away, and she moved to Roy, Utah. She has lived in Roy for 36 years. Alice served as a Temple worker in the Ogden Temple for 27 years. She loved the temple and the people she served with.

Despite the trials she faced in her life she never complained and endured them well. When asked how she was doing, she always answered "I'm fine".

Alice is survived by one son; Larry (Orelene) Mikesell, Layton, and two daughters; Elaine Boswell, Roy, Teresa (Bob) Gentry, Roy, eight grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren. She is also survived by two special sisters; Vila Brown, Sandy, and Donna Michaels, Ogden, one brother; Arvin (Clarice) Rawlings, Fairview, Idaho.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Navella Rawlings, her husband Robert Lee Mikesell, and three brothers; Clell, Clair, and Sheldon Rawlings, and two sisters; Retta and Elaine Rawlings, and son-in-law Ronald Boswell.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah. Family and friends may call on Sunday, April 26, 2009, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and on Monday from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m., prior to services.

Interment in the Fairview Idaho Cemetery.
