Allen Cale Burt
October 16, 1921 ~ July 19, 2015

Allen Cale Burt, 93, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2015 from causes incident to old age. He was born the son of John Cale and Hilda Allen Burt on October 16, 1921 in Brigham City, UT. He graduated from Box Elder High School and attended Weber College after the war.

He married Lois Jean Allred on August 15, 1943 in Santa Ana, CA where Allen was stationed in the Marine Corps. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple a few months later after receiving enough leave to come home. Allen proudly served two tours of duty in the South Pacific during WWII. His main duty was servicing the guns mounted on fighter planes. After the war he worked at the Defense Depot Ogden and then Cream O' Weber Dairy as a route salesman in Ogden and as plant manager in the Orem/Provo area, later returning to Ogden. He was employed as Sales Manager at Pepsi-Cola for 5 years and for 25 years as a traveling salesman for J.G. Read and Bros. throughout Southern Utah and portions of Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter belonging to several hunting clubs through the years. He also belonged to the River Rats Club which evolved into the Desert Rats exploring the canyons and beauties of Southern Utah. As an amateur photographer he combed the regions by foot, on his Tote Goat and by Jeep with his beloved friends, most of whom have passed on.

Allen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having a firm testimony of the Savior. He served in many callings and was a faithful home teacher until this past year when his health failed. One of his favorite duties was giving the missionaries rides as far away as Cache Valley. His greatest joy in life was his family and he enjoyed the many family events. He was especially appreciative of the visits by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren these past few months when his health declined. We would also like to thank the loving caregivers from Summit Hospice and Brookdale Assisted Living (Emeritus Estates).

Allen and Lois have resided most of their lives in Ogden. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois, his children, Steve Allen Burt (Julia), Linda J. Smith (Jeff), and John Rory Burt (Alicia) of the Ogden area. He has 16 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, David Rory Burt and a granddaughter, Connie Smith Linder.
