Alta R. Barnard Obituary (1920 - 2010)

Alta Ravsten Barnard PERRY - Alta Ravsten Barnard, 89, returned to her Heavenly Father on August 13, 2010. She was born December 30, 1920 to John Ravsten and Bertha Evelyn Nish in Clarkston, Utah. She married Paul Dwight Barnard on November 13, 1944 in the Logan LDS Temple. Alta grew up and was educated in Clarkston. She graduated from North Cache High School and LDS seminary. She worked at Hill Air Force Base as an aircraft painter during World War II. After the war she moved with her husband to Perry, Utah and lived there from 1945 until her death. She worked in the Box Elder School lunch program for 18 years. After retiring she traveled with Paul to many places in the U.S. and in foreign countries. Alta had many callings in the LDS Church and enjoyed them all. Her favorite calling was working with the brides as a temple worker in the Ogden Temple. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking for all her family and friends. She is survived by her four daughters, Rita (Ed) Johnson, Eileen Barnard, Alana (Walt) Reavis, Wendy (Tom) Ouellette; two sons, Harlan (Linda) Barnard and Jay Dee (Kim) Barnard, 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, six sisters, Betty, Leah, Amy, Ida, Merle, Lois; four brothers, Byron, Ivin, Vance, and Blaine, and one daughter-in-law, Gaye Farner Barnard. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Markeson and his staff. Services will be on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Perry 6th Ward Chapel, 2415 S. Park Dr. Perry, UT. Friends may call Monday 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E. Brigham City, UT., and Tuesday 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment in the Brigham City Cemetery.
