Amy Echard Otto Obituary (1973 - 2023)

Amy Echard Otto, age 50, surrounded by her beloved family and friends, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Amy was born on March 3, 1973, to Robert and Beth Echard in Ogden, Utah. She lived in Pleasant View most of her life. Growing up, Amy always received good grades, was involved in her ward and community, loved to sing, dance, and play the piano, and frequently wore her favorite color, red. Amy graduated from Brigham Young University in 1993 with a degree in Elementary Education. In 1991 Amy met the love of her life. Originally meeting on a blind date where Paul tried unsuccessfully to steal a kiss from Amy, after 20 months dating, they were found to be a match made in heaven. They fell in love, were married in the Salt Lake Temple, and went on to have four children: Braden, Brooklyn, Garrett and Jace. Being a mother is a role that has always given her much pride and joy. A kind, caring, and giving person, Amy has always put the needs of her family before her own. She has faced every challenge in life with courage and dignity. Our mother is a source of inspiration to us all, and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she has touched. Our family is blessed to have as our mother one of the strongest, bravest, kindest, most loving women ever to walk this earth. Growing up, Amy was always there for us with arms open for a hug, whether we needed help, comfort or correction. Mom has always been our biggest cheerleader and constant supporter. Our family wouldn't be where it is today without her as our mother. She is a woman of strong faith, and she instilled in us the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right. Our mother is a true role model whom we will always admire. Amy loves serving others. This love was amplified during her years of teaching her students at Maria Montessori Academy. She made learning fun and always had a field trip up her sleeve. It was important for her to include the class that her children were in so they could participate in these trips as well. She has a love for education that is contagious. Her model classroom took countless hours to perfect and re-perfect. All who know Amy, love Amy, an exemplary wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and teacher. Amy has always had a sparkling smile on her face, despite the difficult trials that life gifted her. She has surrounded herself with her family as much as possible and made beautiful memories with them, always making sure to take pictures along the way. She is well known in the community through the countless works of service she has happily given. You would often find Amy stopped in the grocery aisle chatting with someone she knew long ago or from just around the block. She has been one of the best and strongest fighters we know. We are so proud of our Mom! Amy is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Gloria Jean Otto. She is survived by her husband Paul and their children, Braden and Caroline Otto, Brooklyn and Weston Graham, Garrett Otto, Jace Otto, her granddaughter Elsie Jean Otto, and the family pet Mia; her parents, Robert and Beth, and siblings, Robyn and Rob Thorsted, Heather and Mike Petersen, and Justin and Bridgett Echard, her father-in-law Samuel Otto and Paul's siblings, Jeff and Joni Otto, Suzette and Foster, Jeanel and Bruce Stanley, and Richard and Page Otto; and lots of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, countless special friends, and hundreds of beloved students. Funeral service will be Saturday, August 19, 2023, 12:30 p.m. at the Pleasant View Stake Center, 2975 N 1000 W, Pleasant View, Utah. Viewing prior to services from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Interment at Ben Lomond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to help the family with the funeral costs.
