Amy Simmons

–

Ogden, Utah

Amy Ann Smedley Simmons, born August 12, 1971, returned to Heaven on April 10, 2026 after complications from surgery. She left this world peacefully surrounded by her loving family, and was greeted on the other side by the loving arms of her son Baby Blair and mother, among many others. While our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing she is no longer in pain.
Amy was the kind of person who lit up every room she walked into. Whether it was a perfectly timed sarcastic comment or a quick, joyful remark, she had a way of making people smile. To know Amy was to love her—because, as we all know, “everybody loves Amy.”
She was born and raised in Preston, Idaho, and carried with her countless stories from growing up in her family’s grocery store—stories she loved to share with anyone who would listen. Her life took her from Preston to St. George to Boston, where her love for caring for others began while working as a nanny for a sweet family. Always adventurous, Amy later moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she went to school, worked, and began some of the most meaningful chapters of her life—including meeting her husband and eternal companion Blair. They married in the Logan temple on August 27, 1994.
Amy had a deep love for creativity and was a true Pinterest crafter. She found joy in scrapbooking, vinyl projects, wood painting, wreath and table runner making, diamond painting, and chalk stenciling. She was very talented and had an amazing eye for all things beautiful, colorful, and bright. You could almost always find her crafting with something playing in the background—Judge Judy, Everybody Loves Raymond, Grease, anything with Julia Roberts, or whatever happened to be the movie of the week. She also loved sharing her many “prides,” from her substitute teaching stories to the legacy and stories of Napoleon Dynamite—but most of all, she loved talking about her family.
Amy was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony never wavered—it only grew stronger through each hardship she faced. She served in many callings with a full heart, including Young Women’s, but her favorite of all was serving as the Primary music chorister, where her joy and love for others, especially children, truly radiated.
Amy was strong, kind, stubborn, and completely fearless.
Her life was not without hardship. After the heartbreaking loss of her first baby, baby Blair, Amy continued forward with incredible strength. In the years that followed, she faced many challenges, including a traumatic brain injury, which led to an early diagnosis of MS in 2017. She went on to courageously battle kidney disease and failure, chronic pain, cardiac events, neuropathy, and so much more. Through it all, she kept going.
Amy was supported by an incredible team of doctors who helped her through so much, but above all, she was cared for by her husband, Blair, who was her constant rock. He stood by her side every step of the way, never wavering. When she needed dialysis at home, Blair sat beside her for hours, becoming certified so he could care for her himself. He took on everything—day in and day out—with complete love, patience, and strength. Blair cared for Amy with a depth of love and devotion that never faltered. Even now, in the face of losing the love of his life, he continues to take care of everyone she loved with that same selflessness.
Amy is survived by her loving husband and strongest confidant Blair Simmons; her three children Hannah (Tate) DeHaan, Hayden, and Sydney (Tyler) Cordner; her pride and joy grandsons Elliott and Isaac DeHaan; two grand-pups Auggie and Opal; her dear father Glenn Smedley; her four siblings Cory (Michelle) Smedley, Jennie (Billy) Green, Kip (Monique) Smedley, and Abbie Smedley; her mother-in-law Saundra (Lynn) Call; and many nieces, nephews, family in-law, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her beloved son “Baby Blair” Glenn Simmons, mother Tina Smedley, and father in-law Ronald Simmons. We know these loved ones along with many others were there to welcome her home.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to those who cared closest for Amy, including Melinda with US Renal Care, many neighbors and dear friends, and the hospital and care team at St. Marks Hospital in Murray who made her final hours comfortable and possible.
Amy was deeply loved, and her life was filled with meaning, resilience, humor, and heart. Her impact will live on in the stories we tell, the things she taught us, and the love she gave so freely.
Mom, even though it’s not “wuv you Wednesday,” we love you mostest!
