Anna LaRae Fowler our beloved wife, mother and friend took one last walk through the hollyhocks July 2, 2013.

Anna, was the third child born to Harold "Hap" Sorensen and Pansy Waldean Evans on June 27, 1941 in Park City, Utah.

Anna was known as LaRae to her friends (which included such luminaries as everyone she met!) and she grew up in the small town of Talmage, Utah in the Uintah Basin. She spent her childhood working on the family ranch, riding horses, chasing cattle and sheep and building a lifelong love for the outdoors and the simple life.

She learned from an early age the value of hard work, and the importance of fun! She spent many hours with her beloved sisters doing whatever it is that sisters do to make them love each other so much.

In 1955, while sitting in choir class at Altamont High School, LaRae noticed a new student; Donald B. Fowler from, of all places, Hollywood California. Over the years they fell in love and were married May 31, 1959 in Talmage, Utah. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles California LDS Temple on May 25, 1960.

When they moved to California after their marriage, LaRae missed the herds and excitement of the wild frontier so they started having a herd of their own. In all, 9 children, called her by the greatest title anyone can achieve; mom.

After 14 years in Simi Valley, California, Don and LaRae moved to Boise, Idaho where they raised their family and developed many lifelong friendships. In 2006, they moved to Plain City, Utah and have enjoyed the friendship of many more wonderful people.

LaRae was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in
many capacities including Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Primary President, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Stake Relief Society Presidency, Stake Young Women's Presidency and Stake Girl's Camp Director and of course, as a dedicated Den Mother in the Cub Scouts. She loved all of her callings but had a special love of her many years as Girl's Camp Director. Although, the girls didn't love her gorilla suit that showed up at every camp! She also served as an ordinance worker in the Boise Temple and two missions with her husband Don in the Idaho, Boise mission and the Utah, Ogden mission.

LaRae had a luminous smile, a quick wit and an uncanny ability to comfort those most in need of comfort. LaRae served readily and served often. She was a true embodiment of the pure love of Christ and lived her life as an example of faith, hope and charity. Her healing touch will be sorely missed but her example will live forever.

LaRae spent her final years coming up with new adventures for her grandchildren and caring for her prodigious garden, a hollyhock crop that rivals any in the world, and the love of her life, Don.

LaRae is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald B. Fowler; 8 Children, Kevin Fowler, Phillip (Karrie) Fowler, Matthew (Dawn) Fowler, Richard Fowler, Jana (Eric) Olsen, Russell Fowler, Emily (Troy) Dunow, Timothy (Stacey) Fowler; her brother Bill (Karen) Sorensen and three sisters, Peggy Cooper, Elaine Shumway and Arda (Vaughan) Higbee. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Anna.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6th at the Poplar Ward Chapel, 2123 North 2000 West, Farr West. A viewing will be held prior to services from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the Ben Lomond Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the members of the Poplar Ward for their care and compassion the past year and IHC Hospice Nursing Staff for their care to LaRae.
