Anna Mae Rebecca (Boyer) Meyer Obituary (1922 - 2019)

On Memorial Day, May 27th, 2019, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister died peacefully in the Memory Care unit at Fairfield Village in Layton, Utah. She is survived by her children, Allen W. (LaVonne) Meyer, Jr. and Jeanie R. (Dirk) Burningham; grandchildren, Brock D. (Cari) Burningham, Lisa M. (Jeff) Bodily, Brolin W. Burningham, Brandon J. Meyer, Boyd A. (Mandy) Meyer, Nate R. (Manda) Meyer, and Kortt R. Burningham; great-grandchildren, Addison, Presli, Taislee, Cambree, Brahn, Evie, and Owen; sisters, Dorothy Minnich, Joyce Imoff, and JoAnn Vendetti. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Allen "Gus" Meyer. Anna Mae was born in Lebanon, PA, to Harry Peter and Mable Mae (Zellers) Boyer. After marrying Gus in 1942, the family relocated to Layton, Utah in 1965. She worked and managed the school lunch program at North Layton Junior High for eight years and then Davis North Hospital for five years prior to retiring. She loved serving others and during her 96 years volunteered in many organizations. She logged over 10,000 volunteer hours at the VA Hospital in Lebanon. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 23 and the American Legion Post 158, where she served as president. Anna Mae also served as a Den Mother in the Cub Scouts of America. Her hobbies included snow skiing, snowshoeing, bowling, oil painting, needlework and other crafts, and many trips on the bus to Ogden and Salt Lake to have lunch at ZCMI's Tiffin Room with her grandchildren. She was a great supporter of all her grandchildren's extracurricular activities. A private memorial service for the family will be held on Friday, May 31st, 2019. Internment will be at Layton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Utah or a charitable organization of your choice. The family would like to express their thanks to Visiting Angels, Nancy and Mykol, Inspiration Hospice, and the aides and nurses at Fairfield Village Assisted Living Memory Care.
