Anny Margaret Campbell Obituary (1914

ANNY MARGARET JACOBSEN CAMPBELL Roy - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Anny Margaret Jacobsen Campbell passed away on June 18, 2001. Anny was the daughter of Anton and Maren Jacobsen, born in Onsoy, Norway on February 22, 1914. She was a beautician and eventually started her own salon. She and her family endured Nazi occupation of Norway for five years, and were subjected to much hardship and privation. She kept busy writing plays and poetry and doing service for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. At one point she was arrested and interrogated by Nazi Gestapo as a possible spy. With the end of World War II, she immigrated with her family to Seattle, Washington, where they joined her younger brother who had spent the war years in the American Navy. In Seattle, her younger sister met and married a young man from Utah who had recently been released from the army. Anny was introduced at the wedding to his older brother John, Anny married John December 15, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Since, in the mean time, her other sister had married another of John's brothers, there were three sisters married to three brothers! Anny and John settled in Roy, Utah where they raised their son, John Jr. She continued to write poetry, and was published in the Relief Society Magazine. In her later years she was stricken with Alzheimer's disease, spending many years under John's care. Her last six years were under the expert care of the Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah. Anny's family will ever be grateful to the staff of Sunshine Terrace who accepted and respected John's need to continue ministering to her. Anny's greatest joy in life was serving her husband John, her son Johnny, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She is survived by her husband John Sr., brothers Erling (Margareth) Jacobsen and Harry (Else) Jacobsen, Seattle,Wash.; sisters Mary (Vern) Campbell, Lynnwood, Wash.; and Ruth (Leslie) Campbell, Fairbanks, Alaska; son John Jr. (Lillian) Campbell, and grandchildren Carolanne, Crystal, Carma, Brandon, Melody, Stacy, Katey, and Tiffany of Clinton. Her father Anton Jacobsen, mother Maren Olava Jacobsen, and infant brother Johnny and infant sister Lillian preceded her in death.
