Arthur (Art) Shattuck Obituary (1927

Art Shattuck Arthur (Art) Shattuck, 88, passed away January 29, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Art was born April 26, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Howard Shattuck and Myrtle Peck. He married Hazel Elizabeth Morris on September 30, 1950 while both were stationed in Ft. Lee, Virginia in the Amy. He served his country for five years in the US Navy during WW II and fifteen years in the US Army during the Korean War. After many years of world-wide service through his military career, they retired in Utah in 1964. In 1982, he retired from Civil Service at the Defense Depot, Ogden, Utah after seventeen years of service. While it was difficult to be away from family, he always enjoyed the people of the world, including France, Philippines, Japan, China, Papua New Guinea, and Guam and tried to help wherever he could. He and Hazel loved to travel at every chance they could. He loved the Utah mountains and the greenness of the Midwest. Art was an avid volunteer of many fundraising activities for his community through the Ogden Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE). Art said, "Do not grieve for me, for I have left for another duty station as my duties here on earth have been completed and thank you to everyone who called me a friend." Surviving are his daughter, Denise (Bruce) Clemonds of Bixby, Oklahoma and son Robert (Ann) Shattuck of Houston, Texas, daughter-in-law Diane of Ogden, Utah; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Art was presided in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, sons Wayne and James Shattuck, granddaughter Amy, and brother David. Funeral services were held at St. James Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday, February 1, 2016. Internment at Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, UT, will be held on July 5, 2016 at 10:00 where military honors will be accorded.
