Arthur P. Smith passed away on August 27, 2017. He was born on December 7, 1933 to Arthur H. and Vivian Poppleton Smith in Ogden Utah. He graduated from Ogden High School and Weber State College with a degree in political science. He also attended Utah State University working on a Masters degree. He proudly served in the military in the First Infantry, known as the "Big Red One".

He married his sweetheart, Doris Read, on June 18, 1954. Together they had one son, Sean P. Smith.

Arthur worked as a Railroad Engineer and taught History and Political Science at Weber High School. He loved to golf and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and photography. He was an extensive traveler, traveling in Europe and Australia, and an avid reader. He loved his family and his dogs and cats.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, and his son, Sean Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at McKay Dee Hospital ICU for their love and care.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at North Ogden 7th Ward, 205 E Elberta Dr., Ogden. A viewing will be held on Tuesday the 5th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 to 11:40 a.m. at the church. Interment: Ben Lomond Cemetery.
