Atsushi Sayama Obituary (1925 - 2009)

Atsushi Sayama Atsushi Sayama, 84 passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009 in his home surrounded by his family. Atsushi was born May 17, 1925 to Kenji and Sumi Sayama in Brigham City. He was a lifelong resident of Corinne, a hardworking farmer and a dedicated, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was educated in Corinne and graduated from Box Elder High School. He served in the US Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946. Atsushi married Shirley Kuroiwa on March 7, 1955. He was an active member of the Honeyville Buddhist Church, serving as treasurer for many years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling around the world. Surviving are his wife, Shirley, daughter Ellen (Steven) Kato of Layton, sons; David (Amy) of Yorba Linda, CA; and Keith of Portland, OR, and two granddaughters Valerie and Shannon. Also surviving are two sisters, Hatsuko Matsumoto, Yorba Linda, CA and Yuriko Inouve of Hooper. Special thanks to Dr. John Markeson, Michelle Markeson, Shaliese Bishop and Aspire Hospice. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Honeyville Buddhist Church, 3945 W. 6900 N. Honeyville, UT. Family and friends may call August 27, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
