Au Wai Fong Yin passed away December 29, 2013. She was born November 22, 1920 to Au Ping Sheng and Kang Shen in Nanjing, the once capital of China. She spent her childhood there and also attended school. During World War II she joined the Nanjing Citizen Army Women's Department where she spent most of her enlistment as a nurse administering to other's needs.

She married Chun On Yin on February 14, 1937. Chun On Yin was a General of Logistics under Chiang Kai-shek during WWII. Their home was a refuge for others during these trying times. In 1949, their previous living status changed abruptly with the outbreak of civil war. Forced to flee, they left China for Hong Kong, leaving all monetary things behind and escaping with only their lives.

In Hong Kong she found employment in a cotton mill and later in a technical embroidery sweaters mill; a skill she continued to practice for many years.

She came to the United States and to Utah on November 24, 1968 under the sponsorship of Emma Russell, of Roy, Utah and William Coleman; President of Coleman Knitting Mills in Ogden, Utah. Her welfare was always a concern of Mrs. Russell's and Mr. Coleman's, to which she was always appreciative and grateful.

She was employed at the Coleman Knitting Mill Embroidery Department, making letterman jackets and sweaters. During her employment she attended English classes at night school under the private tutorship of Grace Riggs. She retired in 1983 but continued to work part time until 1985.

She became a United States Citizen in 1974, a designation she wore with great pride and loyalty. She joined the LDS Church in 1958 in Hong Kong and found great solace in her faith. She lived in Ogden, Utah from 1968 -1992 then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be closer to her daughter's family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chun On Yin and her daughter, Wan Kei Yin Hadden. She is survived by her son-in-law, Donald E. Hadden and three grandchildren, Anthony D. (Wendy); Jeremy A., Renata Kei; six great-grandchildren, Mia, Stella, Esmee, Lena, Mirae and Grace.
