Barbara Jeane Christopherson Braegger
Our lovely, talented, creative mother, Barbara Jeane Christopherson Braegger, lost her valiant battle with Alzheimer's dementia on August 30, 2015.
Jeane was born May 21, 1928 in Salt Lake City to George Franklin Christopherson and Sylvia Regina Pope Pierpont Christopherson. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Ogden. Jeane attended Ogden High School as did her future husband Don Braegger. Both graduated in 1946. Jeane and Don were married December 11, 1947 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Jeane was an active member of the LDS Church and had multiple callings. She served as both a Primary President and Relief Society President. Jeane and her husband, Don, were called to serve an LDS mission on Temple Square Salt Lake City in 1994. It was a highlight of both their lives.
Jeane was also an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Jeane was avidly artistic and creative. She made her first wedding cake in 1958 in Salmon, Idaho. By the time she moved back to Ogden, she had honed her skills and rapidly found herself in high demand for wedding and birthday cakes in every shape and size until she was called to her LDS mission which curtailed her availability.
Once her mission ended, Jeane found other creative outlets. She knitted baby booties for infants which friends and family clamored for. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. When she discovered the art of dipping chocolates, she would start making fondant in the late summer giving it time to mellow for Christmas dipping. While many people wanted to buy her boxed confections, she preferred to give them as gifts to friends and family.
Always looking for something new and interesting, she discovered the lost art of tatting. True to form, she quickly mastered the skill and started making note cards embellished with tatted designs. Businesses as far away as St. George were asking her for her cards to sell in their gift shops. She preferred to give them as gifts to friends and family.
Jeane was preceded in death by her husband, Don Braegger, Sisters Bernele Hale and Carol Christopherson, Brother Dale Christopherson, and Stepmother Ann Christopherson.
Jeane leaves behind one brother, Lynn Christopherson (Janis) and four children, Diane Braegger, Janet Lang (Ben), Alan Braegger (Cindy) and David Braegger (Leslie), 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
If ever there was a woman who always gave more than she was asked, it was our mother, Jeane. She will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Legacy House of Ogden, as well as Nicole and Megan from Aspire Home Health and Hospice for their kind and compassionate service they provided for our sweet mother. She genuinely loved each and every one of you.
Viewings will be held Thursday, September 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. Friday, September 4th, prior to the funeral service at 9:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT.
