Barbara Elizabeth Richan Harris Obituary (1935 - 2021)

Barbara Elizabeth Richan Harris returned to her Heavenly Father on January 6, 2021. Barbara was born on November 28, 1935 in Ogden, Utah to Edgar Ray Richan and Velma Thompson. Barbara lived her entire life in Utah. She graduated from Weber High School. On July 18, 1952, Barbara married Ira Francis Harris in Ogden; their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Born of this union were six wonderful children: Rebecca, Ida Mae, Judy Lynn, Goldie Beth, Tina Rae and Gerald Micah. Barbara was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held a variety of callings throughout her years. Barbara and her husband Ira served a local service mission working in the Genealogy field and with the missionaries. She worked as a cook for the Weber School District and was the 'Pie Lady' at the Ogden temple cafeteria. Barbara was talented in everything she did. She loved history and genealogy. She enjoyed tatting, knitting and crafting. She created many beautiful keepsakes for her family. She never stopped learning and listened to books on tape until the end. She was a loyal and trusted confidant for her friends and family and a good listener who knew just the right thing to say to make you feel better. Survived by her five children: Becky Parker-Harris, Ida Mae (Larry) Brown, Judy Maycock, Tina Voigt and Gerald (Doni) Harris; twenty-one (21) grandchildren, forty-three (43) great-grandchildren and twelve (12) great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by her siblings Ray Richan, Carolyn Carter, Thorann (Wendell) Slater, Lois Dunn, Susan (Art) Simmons and sister-in-law Carolyn (Dubby) Johnston. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Goldie Beth Harris and nine siblings. The family would like to thank Summit Hospice, especially Aspen and Misty for all their kind and loving care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held on Tuesday January 12, 2021 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and Wednesday January 13, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Henefer Cemetery. Funeral Services will be live streamed on here on Barbara's Obituary page and will appear in the service section of the page on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, precautions, Masks are Required by those who attend.
