Barbara Rae Pett Stokes

CLEARFIELD -- Our loving mother passed away surrounded by her loving family Saturday, May 27, 2006.

She was born June 10, 1918 in Bingham Canyon, Salt Lake County, to Leonard Richins and Mary Steele Pett. Mother grew up in American Fork, UT where she attended American Fork High School and earned an associates degree at BYU.

She married George L. Stokes on December 14, 1936 in Evanston, Wyoming; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 55 years. After being separated for 15 years they are now together again forever.

She is survived by seven children: Nanette (Hugh) Lord, Riverdale; Sandra (Jerry) Volmar, Bountiful; Diane (Richard) Overduyn, Boise, ID; Bruce (Elisabeth) Stokes, Syracuse; Ruth (Ron) Thrapp, West Jordan; Pam (Craig) Adams, Clinton; Mary Lou (Greg) Allen, Layton; and one sister, Helen (Frank) Lay, Aurora, CO. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson and great-grandson.

Barbara was active in the LDS church where she served in numerous church callings. She was loved by all and was most devoted to her family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Clearfield 7th Ward Chapel, 231 East 300 North. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West and from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, American Fork Cemetery; graveside dedication at 2:30 p.m.
