Bentley Christy Obituary (1907 - 2008)

Bentley Christy OGDEN - Bentley Christy, 101 years of age, passed away November 12, 2008 in Ogden, Utah. He was born October 30, 1907 in Prairieville, LA to Wallace and Matty Hayward Christy. He married Hattie Thomas and was later divorced. He married Lula Simpson, Aug. 28, 1950, she preceded him in death. Christy was a member of New Zion Baptist where he was ordained a deacon in 1958. He served faithfully in the Church until his health failed. He was a former member of Mt. Ogden Lodge #20. He is survived by his Aunt Emma Washington, Baton Rouge, LA; daughter Hilda Christy Cloy, Ponchatoula, LA; step-daughter Mary McNeil, Oakland, Ca; 2 daughters-in-law Leola Christy and Ruth Christy; special great-granddaughter Scarlett Engram; 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one daughter and four sons. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden where friends may call prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.
