Bernadean Wood

–

Pleasant View, Utah

My parents are Wesley Tomlinson and Lilly Valentina Sandstrom Tomlinson. I was born in Farr West, Weber County, Utah. I don't remember how old I was when we moved into Ogden, Weber County, Utah, but after a few different homes we ended up at 655 36th Street. I attended Riverdale Junior High.
My parents didn't go to church, but they insisted that my sister Sharon Louise and I went to church, or we couldn't play. So, we went to church. That is when I met May Tracy and her daughter Lucille Tracy. We became good friends and her mother May, taught my church class. My parents were both working but May made sure I was doing the right things.
Even though Lucille Tracy and I lived across the street from each other, Lucille attended Ogden High, and I attended Weber High School. Lucille and I didn't do much together anymore except for church.
I wanted to attend a college in the east, but Mom had other ideas. So, then I wanted to go to BYU, but Mom didn't think that was a good idea. I had cousins on my mothers' side of the family so Mom decided I should go up to Utah State College (it later became a university). I liked USU but to help financially I worked as a floor monitor and in the cafeteria and so I got to eat for free.
Over the years I studied many things at many schools, but I ended up liking counseling the best. I have studied for and served as an administer, a counselor and whatever else I was asked to do but I like counseling the best. I worked in schools for forty-one years and really enjoyed all of my jobs. I probably liked just working with people the best.
My husband Victor David Wood and I were married in the Logan Temple in Logan, Utah for time and eternity. We lived in Las Vegas for about thirty-one years. While we were there, we built a cabin in what the people there called mountains. But since I had come from Utah where big mountains are it was kind of my private joke because Vegas only has hills.
Victor and I adopted two special girls, they were extremely pretty and very bright. The oldest girl, Nancy Leigh is oriented to marrying, she married Dell Sellnow and they live in Wyoming. The youngest girl, Chrisi Lynne likes to learn new things and developed her skills to work and to enjoy her two boys (Ira David Gardner and Daniel Lee Gardner); great-grandson, Dakota Lee Gardner; two sisters, Sharon Louise Tomlinson Rock Krist and Gaylene Tomlinson Ippilito.
My life goes on. I am pretty much able to do what I want to do. But I enjoyed my family, my many friends (one very close one) Rosemary Kitchens and my life goes on. Who knows what the future will bring.
