Bette Lewis Eppley

Bette Lewis Eppley passed away December 29, 2011. She was born February 13, 1923, the only daughter of Jesse Wentworth Lewis and Nellie Belnap. She grew up in Hooper, Utah, attending Hooper Schools, graduated from Weber High, and attended Weber College. She married our father Charles Gilbert Eppley on October 3, 1940. They were wed for 52 years before his death in 1992. They raised their family in Utah and California.

Mom was an accomplished seamstress and baked the best pies in the world. She had many professions while we were growing up; her last job was for the parts department at Sears and Roebucks. She left in 1980 to travel with daddy. For 10 years, they traveled as snowbirds before settling in St. George. Mom was positive they traveled every dirt road west of the Mississippi and even some in the east. They made many lifelong friendships, some spilling over from childhood.

She leaves behind to treasure her memory, her six children, Barbara (Glenn) Jones, Roy, Utah; Charles Dennis (Lucy), Salem, Utah; Larry (Cleo) Seligman, Arizona; KarlAnn (Steve) Trease, St. George, Utah; Michael J (Bonnie), West Haven, Utah, RoiLee (Darrell Dec's) Severns, Ogden, Utah; one brother, Edwin (Ted) Lewis, Roseville, California, 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and her best 4-legged friend Chipper.

Her parents, husband, three brothers, William (Bill), Richard (Dick), and James (Jim), one grandson Clayton Jones, and one granddaughter Christine Eppley precede her in death.

Special thanks to Dr. Roark Neville; AFI Hospice for their care and assistance in her last days; and Utah Cancer Clinic, especially Nancy.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 2:00 p.m.,, at Hooper City Cemetery, 5290 South 6300 Hooper, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m., prior to services at Myers Roy Mortuary 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah.

Interment in the Hooper City Cemetery.
