1922 - 2007

OGDEN - Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on October 15, 2007, two days before her 85th birthday. She was born the only daughter of Inga Erickson and Henry A. Combe on October 17, 1922. She graduated from Ogden High School and attended Moench business school. She married Loyd C. Olsen on March 18, 1942.

She worked at the Defense Depot of Ogden and retired from the Internal Revenue Service, where she was given many awards for outstanding performance. Betty was active in the PTA. As a member of the LDS Church Betty enjoyed serving in the primary and as a relief society teacher. Additionally, she generously volunteered at McKay-Dee Hospital. She had fond memories of her of her work and volunteering activities.

Betty was a very talented person. She designed beautiful dresses for her two daughters. Her handiwork included quilts, afghans, embroidery work, and ceramics that are treasured by her family members. She loved gardening. Her flowers were beautiful. People who drove by her house often asked if they could have starts of certain plants, and she was always happy to oblige. We will miss her roast beef and mashed potato dinners and homemade pies. She loved babies and small children. Betty gave this love to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Spencer and Grant Combe. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Frank) Markos and Jeanne (Lyle) Bass; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Max (Marcelene) Combe and two sisters-in-law, Maurine Combe and Marjorie Olsen.

The family would like to thank Sherrie Hodson, Maureen Ketchum, and Dean Olsen for all the special care and love they have given Betty.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the Plain City Stake Center, 4575 West 2125 North. Friends and family may visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17th at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. and Thursday prior to the service at the church from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.
