Billy Jay Wood

OGDEN-Billy J Wood, 78, passed away on December 24th, 2007 in Ogden after a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He was born in Ogden Utah on May 11th, 1929 to Wallace and Mabel (Hadley) Wood. He attended Ogden High School and enlisted in the US Army in 1946 serving as a military policeman in Germany until receiving his honorable discharge in 1948.
He married Helen Newman on March 19th, 1949 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He worked at Pillsbury Mills and Marquardt in Ogden and then moved to Los Angeles in 1967 where he began a career at ZERO Manufacturing. During his 25 years at ZERO, he worked his way from controller to President and General Manager in Burbank, CA and worked for 4 years as General Manager in Monson, MA. He retired to Huntsville Utah in 1990 and later moved to Ogden in 1999.
During his church life, he served as Bishop in Springfield MA and later in high council positions in Los Angeles. Bill's greatest passion was always his family. He loved poetry, music and sports and particularly golf. He was an avid BYU and Jazz fan.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen, his brother Earl Wood of St George, his five children, Lynn (Dana) Wood of Ogden, Karen (Bob) Campbell of Saugus CA, Larry (Beth) Wood of Castaic CA , Cathy (Jolene) Wood of Brigham City, Richard (Vicky) Wood of Layton, 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Patricia Lemmon Wood and his grandson Joshua Mordue.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2nd at 1:00 pm. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 1st from 6-8 PM and prior to the services on Wednesday from 11:45 am -12:45 pm
