Boyd Kent Layne, 72, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023, of natural causes. He was born April 28, 1950, the son of Richard and Edith Kent Layne. Boyd left us to be reunited with his parents and a brother, Gary Dixon Layne.
Boyd was a man of so many talents and skills. He was well known for his work ethic and perfection in whatever he pursued. He was meticulous in all that he did. He loved helping neighbors with yard work. He never paid anyone to do anything for him; he figured it out with his own two hands, and it was done the phenomenal Boyd way. From clarinet/musical talents, restoring and painting cars, racing cars, fixing antiques, making beautiful stained glass - it was always done to perfection. He worked tirelessly restoring their home on 17th street, built in late 1890's, taking it from an old home to a beautiful Victorian home that was recognized by Ogden City as House of the Month in Ogden's Block to Block magazine in the May/June 1990 edition. Boyd was a perfectionist and you would always know without a doubt it was done to last.
Boyd had many, many good friends who enjoyed his fun personality and who were loyal to him. He was a good cook and loved to share with others. He will be missed. We are grateful for all of them. He was always known to look for the best in people and situations. He didn't have an easy life, but he made the best of it however he could and accomplished a lot of good.
He is survived by his children, Kristi (Tish), Ryan, Daniel and Josh (Tiffany), his grandchildren, Cody, Kasen, Jake, Zack, Millie Jae, and Jax, and two great-grandchildren Brandtly and Haelynn. He is also survived by his very-loved Soulmate, his cat, Tilly Mae Layne. Also surviving are his brother, Dennis and sisters, Tauna Briggs and Diana (Ray) Ellis.
Services to honor Boyd will be held at 11 am on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. with a viewing prior from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Burial will be in the Ogden City Cemetery.
Family would like to thank all those who have played an important part in his life. We also gratefully thank his doctors, all medical people and others (you know who you are) who kindly helped take care of his needs.
