Our hero and first love Bruce Hal McEntire passed away on Sunday October 13th 2024, at the age of 85. Dad was born March 3rd 1939, the oldest child of three children to Myrtle Naomi Wood and Ross Henry McEntire.
As a child, Dad enjoyed boy scouts, he learned many life, and survival skills and formed a great fondness for pocketknives, which led to a large collection.
Dad was raised in Farr West and loved roaming the hills and mountains of Weber County.
As a young man Dad enjoyed hunting and fishing, a love he passed on to his daughters and grandkids.
On August 14th 1958 Dad married his high school sweetheart Sharon Morse.
Together they raised four feisty girls on their small 3-acre farm in Plain City where Dad, his Father, Father-in-law Tommy Taylor and several of his friends built our family home.
He and mom remained friends until his passing.
Dad married Donna Brown on October 25th 1994, bringing her two sons Steve and Troy into our family. Dad and Donna frequently liked to go exploring around Utah and Idaho making memories of their own. They could often be found out in the backyard enjoying the day and working in the garden. They were the best of friends and loved spending their time together.
Dad was a lifetime glazier for Northern Utah Glass and Valley Glass until his retirement, making many lifelong friends whom he adored. He was a hard worker and honest, he did his best to make sure we always told the truth.
Dad loved farming and rebuilding his favorite tractors. He was a talented carpenter, and he built many beautiful things for the family he loved so much.
Dad tried to instill in us the importance of an education and our heritage, emphasizing its importance in his daily conversations with us. He liked to read about history and kept his favorite books on his home-made shelves for anyone to read.
People who knew our Dad, loved and admired him. He was a forgiving, loving man with a giant heart, and sense of humor. Dad was held in the highest regard by many. His integrity spoke for itself in the way he led his life.
Dad enjoyed his talks with his sons-in- law and was grateful to them for taking care of his daughters like he had always hoped. He was very proud of all his grandchildren and enjoyed hanging out with his kids and grandkids and loved watching the little ones play. His family was everything to him.
He worked tirelessly taking care of his family, his parents, and all the animals on the farm, all while having serious health issues of his own.
Dad is preceded in death by his parents Ross and Naomi McEntire. One brother Leon McEntire, one sister-in-law Diana McEntire, two brothers-in-law Ralph Williams and King Durkee.
Dad was met at the gates of heaven by two of his angels, his great granddaughters, Aubree and Charlie.
Dad is survived by his wife Donna, one sister Lynne Durkee (Joe), four daughters, Lisa (Wade) Glenn, Gina (Mark) Bertagnolli, Angie Hartley, and Shelly (Roger) Edwards, two bonus sons, Steve (Nicole) Brown, and Troy (Diana) Brown. 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandsons and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
To our dear sister Angie, there are no words that can express our appreciation for the loving care you have given Dad these past few years and up to the last minutes of his life!! We are eternally grateful!
