Calvin Jay Hardy passed away surrounded by his family on December 26, 2016. He was born July 16, 1924 and spent his childhood growing up in Moore, Idaho. Calvin joined the Navy and served his country during World War II. After the war and several years of school at Ricks College and University of Utah, he eventually moved to the Ogden Utah area and started a career at Hill Air Force Base. He was introduced to Belva by a good friend that later became his brother-in-law when he and Belva married.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents Ruben and Katie Hardy, sister Merna, wife Belva and one grandson, Jerry. He is survived by his sister Jean, daughter JoAnne Hamblin (Cary), son Wayne Hardy (Anita), son Mark Hardy (Karen), son Brent Hardy (Stacy), 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Calvin was a loving father, who together with his wife, successfully raised 4 children. He was a very quiet and personal man that was hard to get to know, but a very dedicated friend to those that he did get to know. Family was extremely important to Calvin, which he showed more in action than in word. When dementia started to overcome Belva, Calvin was completely dedicated to her care and needs for several years until she passed. This service was a role reversal that demonstrated a dedication, bond and love that is rare.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, UT. A viewing for family and friends will be held Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services.

Interment in Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
