Camilla (Cami) Shan Grow

Camilla (Cami) Shan Grow, much beloved daughter, passed away on August 23, 2012. She was born on January 3, 1979 to Steven and Shanna Grow of Fort Ashby, W.Va. She lived a valiant life dealing with many physical challenges, some of which were chronicled in a 2005 Ensign article titled "A Valued Life."

Her most notable characteristic was that she refused to ever give up, enduring many surgeries and procedures. She attended schools in Utah, Texas, and West Virginia, graduating from Frankfort High School, (WV). She wrote a book titled The Adventures of Nicholas and Joy which she said was for her nieces and nephews: Amelia, Jasmin, Jordan, Dale, and Ky whom she adored. Her dear friend, Stephanie Lott, made sure the book was published for her. She loved serving in the nursery at her church. She delighted in baking, taking care of her two dogs, and helping her parents in tender and unbelievable ways. She loved to travel, doing so as long as she was able, visiting London, Paris, Edinburgh, the Bahamas, and many states. Before passing, she stated emphatically that she did not want anyone to be sad because she knew she was "going on a mission" in the next life. She wanted to thank Dr. Huma Shakil for being a wonderful doctor who orchestrated her care for eighteen years.

In addition to her parents surviving are her brother, Dr. Taylor Grow and wife Michele, of Rockwall, Texas; sister, LaDawna Grow of Gaithersburg, Maryland; brother, Adam Grow and wife Christy of Alexandria, Virginia; two nieces, three nephews, grandmother, Luella Parker, grandfather, Dale Grow, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life memorial was held Monday, August 27th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12205 Gramlich Road, LaVale, MD at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Lucian Herriott officiating.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 3:15 p.m. at Hooper City Cemetery, 5290 South 6300 West, Hooper. A gathering for family and friends will be held Wednesday at 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy.
