Catharina G. Pluim Obituary (1923 - 2006)

UINTAH - Catharina (Toos) Pluim, Together for Eternity. Died Sunday Jan 15, 2006, in her home. Toos was born 25 Sept 1923 In Nijmegen Netherlands to Dirkje Van Blitterswijk and Herman J. Frederiks. She Married William J. Pluim 1 June 1946, in Nijmegen. The marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple 1 June 1958. Toos Immigrated to the USA in 1956 with her 4 oldest children to meet her husband who came 6 months earlier to get things ready for the family. They added 4 more sons to their family. One of her proudest achievements was when she became a citizen of the USA. She was an Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and held many positions, her favorite being Cub Den Mother. Toos had such a great testimony of Missionary work, She was especially proud of (Her) missionaries serving in the field. Her Grandsons, Elder Brandon Pluim, in South Africa, Johannesburg Mission, Elder Joshua Pluim Serving in the Romania, Bucharest Mission, And her Daughter Ingrid and husband Verl serving in the Canada Toronto East Mission. Toos hobbies included knitting, crocheting, ceramics, and sewing. She gave many items away, her many grandchildren all have gifts that she made for them. She earned a degree for seamstress, and was one exam away from her teachers diploma, when WWII began. She was active in her community and State affairs. She was active in the Dutch Club in Utah, and enjoyed her association with fellow immigrants. She was very active in the Utah PTA, serving many years at local and district levels, and proudly served as the State President. Toos and Wim will be fondly remembered for their hospitality. Many times they welcomed family and friends from Holland to stay in their home, and took them to see the sights in the West. They also hosted many Dutch soldiers stationed at HAFB, for a home cooked meal, and an evening of relaxation. She is survived by her children 6 sons and 2 daughters. Willem J (Carol) Pluim Jr. Ingrid (Verl) Byram, Herman (Deanne) Pluim, Imilina (Robert) Ellis, Douglas (Janeil) Pluim, Howard (Margie) Pluim, Mark (Beverly) Pluim, Arthur (Linda) Pluim. She has 48 Grandchildren, and 39 great Grandchildren with 3 more greats on the way She was preceded in death by her spouse, her parents and her brother. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the Uintah 1st Ward Chapel 6660 S. 1775 E. Uintah at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may call on Friday January 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary 5865 S. 1900 W Roy and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Primary Children's Medical Center. Interment, Uintah City Cemetery.
