Charles Nickolas Curcio Obituary (1927 - 2010)

Charles (Chuck) N. Curcio North Ogden - Charles Nickolas Curcio, born July 5, 1927 in Rochester, NY, died March 26, 2010 in Salt Lake City. His mother and father, Fannie Pia Fiore and Charles Curcio were both born in Italy, and immigrated to the US around 1908. In 1945 Dad enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Baltimore. Dad was in Nagasaki just after the atom bomb was dropped. He served one year in the Navy, the duration of the war. After being discharged from the Navy, Chuck settled in East Los Angeles. His father passed away in 1955 and he lived with his mother and brother Jerry helping to support them. Chuck met Thelma Lee Rouse around 1951 and they were married in 1955. Dad enjoyed painting, playing and writing music for the organ, sometimes transposing piano music to organ music. He loved to go to the race track. He was a huge fan of the Calif. Angels, but never got to be with them when they won the World Series., and the Rams. Him and his wife spent many years with season tickets at Angel Stadium watch his beloved Angels. He got together with his group of friends often and played golf with them and his grandson. Chuck is survived by his wife Thelma; daughter Terry (Chris) Justesen; grandchildren Britten (Scott) Chase and Jay Koenig; great-grandchildren Makalyn, Kenzee, Brittany, Jordan; brother Jerry (Darlene) Curcio and brother-in-law Joe Amatto. Preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Amatto; aunts Anna and Emily. Special thanks to our friends and neighbors who have helped and supported our family during this difficult time and to Dad's nurses at Ogden Regional Hospital; Dratin, Karen and Kathy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Myers Mortuary of Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. where friends may call prior to the service from 10 to 10:45 am.
