Chuck Gale

–

Pleasant View, Utah

Charles A. (Chuck) Gale, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, returned home on May 24, 2025. Chuck was born in Payson, UT September 12, 1945 to William Perry and June Gale.

Chuck grew up in Springville, UT, endowed with a passion for all things outdoors. His days were filled with camping, fishing, hiking, building, skiing, hunting, scouting, exploring nature.
After graduation from Springville High School, Chuck attended Utah Trade Tech where he was recruited by Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KA.

Chuck returned home to serve in the Utah National Guard Engineer Company. It was great timing, because he met his forever sweetheart, Sally McClellan. They married three-years later in the Salt Lake Temple and proceeded to make a home and family in Layton, UT. They would raise three wonderful children, Christopher, Wade and Jenny, who became the center of his universe. He was an amazing Dad who bestowed an inheritance upon his children of a love of family, joy in the outdoors, and a desire to serve others. Above all, he was our provider and protector.

Chuck fulfilled an admirable career at Hill Air Force Base as a Logistics Manager for the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile System. He retired after 43 years of Civil Service. Following retirement, Chuck volunteered at Ogden Regional Medical Center in the Orthopedic Unit and H2U program before serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, California Fresno Mission.

Chuck loved tools and tasks, so we dubbed him Mr. Goodwrench. He could fix anything and engineer his way out of any tough spot. If you wanted a load secured, it was certain that his tie-down protocol and safety precautions exceeded Airforce standards!

Chuck loves Jesus Christ and served his entire life in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was ordained a Seventy at the age of 23. While he served a stake mission, as a bishopric member and in young men, his favorite calling was scouting. From the age of 8 through 73, Chuck was a Scout. He was the kind of leader that pulled off a monthly over-night camp 12-months a year, regardless of the weather. He completed Wood Badge, Silver Beaver and was presented a BSA Award of Merit. Chuck is beloved by generations of youth who learned from him manhood and life skills. He is a rare breed of man whose life modeled every point of the scout law.

Chuck was a loyal, good-hearted, gentle man whose love could not be contained. His lips quivered and his eyes teared up at every joyful moment. He was an avid fisherman, self-taught in fly-tying and creating his own fly rods. And he loved his boat and all the places it took him and his loved ones. He never tired of traveling, camping, ATVing and fishing, especially with his grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, a loving father, an awesome grandpa and a doting doggy dad.

He is survived by his eternal companion, Sally, of 57-years; sister Janet Parker, son Christopher Gale (Heather), son Wade Gale; daughter Jenny Cottle (Josh); five grandsons Brenden and Cameron Gale, Ryker, Tage and Asher Cottle; and loyal fur babies Willow and Pippy.
