Charles (Chuck) Frederick Hoffmann Obituary (1940 - 2010)

Charles (Chuck) F. Hoffmann Ogden - Chuck Hoffmann, 70, died November 7, 2010. He was born September 3, 1940 in Jamaica, Queens, New York to Andrew William and Muriel Wilhelmina Wunder Hoffmann. Chuck grew up in Long Island, NY, attending Roslyn High. He and his brother, Bert, started the 1st scuba diving club in the U.S. while in high school. He moved to Utah to play football at BYU at age 17, then moved to Washington and attended Washington State University before returning to Utah where he lived in Liberty and South Ogden. Chuck was married to Marilyn Mitton and together had six children; later divorced, he then married Janet Cazier; later divorced. He then married the love of his life, Terry ReNAC.e Garr, on December 23, 2003. He was a member of the LDS Church and served a mission to France and Belgium. He served as a Bishop, High Councilman and a Gospel Doctrine teacher. Chuck enjoyed fishing, especially going to Yellowstone for opening of fish season every year on June 15th. He also enjoyed waterskiing, snow skiing, BYU football, Jazz basketball and crossword puzzles. Chuck is survived by his wife ReNAC.e; children, Tuck (Karey), Brett (Angie), Shauna (Bruce) Liston, Kipp (Karma), Tye (Shauna), and Sheila Hoffmann; stepchildren, Jason (Denise) Whiteley, Brandon (Shannon) Whiteley, Marissa (Shane) Bassir, Krista Whiteley, Brinn (Andrea) Whiteley, Bretton Whiteley; and 28 grandchildren . He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call on Thursday, November 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, Utah.
