With a twinkle in her eye and a joke on her lips, our beloved and spirited Nancy Sweaney left us on January 24, 2024, to continue her journey in a place where crochet hooks never snag, camping trips are always sunny, and road trips are boundless.
With profound sorrow we also announce the passing Charles Eugene Sweaney, known affectionately as Charlie or Butch. He left us far too soon on January 27, 2024.
Nancy was born in Fort Worth, Texas on June 3, 1945. She was a proud Texan through and through, even as her life's journey took her to Eureka, California, Missoula, Montana, Leeds, Utah, and finally Brigham City, Utah. Her love for her roots was only surpassed by her love for her family and friends. Her home was a sanctuary where laughter echoed off the walls, games were fiercely competitive, and the aroma of her delicious cooking filled every corner.
Charles was born in Hawthorne, NV, on February 15, 1943. A supportive, adventurous, loving, and charismatic soul, Charles spent his life creating a rich tapestry of experiences that revolved around his love for family, friends, country, and the great outdoors.
Nancy's creativity was boundless and could be seen in the stunning crochet pieces she crafted, her ingenious card game strategies, and the joy she brought into every space she entered. Nancy was the life and soul of the party, her funny anecdotes and tales of her lucky gambling streaks never failing to light up a room.
Charles found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for adventure saw him exploring the open road on his motorcycle, camping under the vast skies of Trinity Lake, and embarking on hunting expeditions with his buddies. Weekends were a time for spontaneous road trips and the thrill of the unexpected. A master mechanic with 40 years of dedicated service mostly with Volkswagen, he found immense satisfaction in his work, earning many recognitions throughout his career. He was also an avid sports fan, a lover of good food, an enthusiast of gun shows, car shows, and a connoisseur of a cold beer on a hot summer day. However, the joy he found in these hobbies paled in comparison to the love he held for his family.
Nancy and Charles married on February 19, 1965, and have been inseparable ever since. Their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were their world, and their love for them was boundless. They adored spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandsons, cherishing their laughter and shared moments. Charles' love for his wife, Nancy, was unparalleled, a love so profound that he followed her to heaven as quickly as he could.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, John, and Edith Priddy; her sisters, Peggy, and Hazel Priddy in eternal rest.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles, and Nadine Sweaney.
They are both survived by their daughter, Cynthia (Don) Sweaney Carlopoli; son, Russell Sweaney; and their grandchildren, Steven, Caitlyn, Blake, Geno and Luchiano; and great-grandchildren, George, Enzo and Declan who all will carry their memory in their hearts.
Nancy is also survived by her siblings, Jimmie Gregory, David Priddy, and Shirley Priddy.
Charles is survived by his sisters, Sharon Henderson, Sheryl Ward, and Susan Richie.
