Charley Weatherspoon Obituary (1921 - 2002)

Charley Weatherspoon OGDENa"Charley Weatherspoon, age 82, passed away on April 28, 2002 in Ogden, Utah. He was born February 17, 1921 to Mary Spears and Archie Weatherspoon in Gloster, Mississippi. His early schooling was in Mississippi. He married Donna Jean Larsen from Ogden, Utah, on May 11, 1963 in Elko, Nevada. They resided in Ogden. Charley was a member of Mt. Ogden Lodge #20, Consistory Ben Lomond #94, Labbayk Temple #218, and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and retired after 40 years, and was a member of the Beehive Lodge of Elks, Salt Lake City, Utah. He enjoyed a life of good jazz music and fishing, he loved the outdoors. He was also a veteran of World War II at Hill AFB, discharged at Lorie AFB, Denver, Colorado. He is survived by nine children; Charles Edward Weatherspoon of Memphis, Tennessee; Joseph Weatherspoon of Ogden; Thelma Blackermoore of Watts, California; Greogory A. Weatherspoon of Ogden; Jeffery Weatherspoon of Ogden; Milton Weatherspoon of Ogden; Joyce Weatherspoon of Las Vegas, Nevada; Kevin Weatherspoon of Ogden; and Steven Weatherspoon, stationed in Germany. Also surviving are a brother, Esco (Beverly) Weatherspoon of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a sister, Feasie Cowan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Bulhua and Mac Winston, Annie Porter of Decadia, Georgia; 17 living grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of friends, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Murlee Dixon, brother, Louis Weatherspoon, sister, Verise Weatherspoon, sister, Lena Weatherspoon, and a grandson, Malchi Weatherspoon.
