Chiyo Horibe Sumida Obituary (1916 - 2017)

Chiyo Horibe Sumida Chiyo Horibe Sumida, 101 passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Chiyo was born on March 6, 1916 in Wintersburg, California a daughter of Hisakichi Fugihayashi Horibe and Ichi Kawaski Horibe. She married Motoharu Sumida in 1933. Chiyo was a member of the Buddhist Church. She enjoyed needlepoint, Bunka, where she won best of show in the State Fair, she did beautiful crocheting and enjoyed her flowers. Chiyo helped her husband and boys work their farm in Perry. Surviving are her son Masayoshi "Mas" Sumida, Perry; daughter-in-law Jean Sumida; two granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Motoharu, son Teruo "Paul" Sumida and by all her siblings. Funeral services will be Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT Viewings will be Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
