The Man in Green

Washington Utah - Clarence Edgar Eskridge, 82, passed away November 09, 2007 at his winter home in St. George, Utah. He was born November 22, 1924 in Green River, Wyoming, the oldest son of Clyde Martin and Mahala LaVon (Wright) Eskridge.

He married Erma Peterson Boren, November 19, 1970 and moved to Ogden, where they lived until their retirement. They spent their summers at their home in Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming and their winters in Arizona and St. George, Utah.

He enjoyed sports of every kind and excelled at everything in which he participated. He enjoyed the outdoors. His favorite things to do were golfing, fishing and hunting. He was an avid bowler and had numerous trophies on his mantle. He was a square dance caller for many years and was known as the "Man in Green". He started many square dance clubs, called at many national conventions across the country and was well known for his "Dam Dance" at the Flaming Gorge Dam each July.

He served as a Frog Man and Air Mechanic in the Navy during WWII. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for more than 30 years spending most of his career on the General Manager's staff.

He is survived by six of his children: Stanley Boren (Shirley) of Bakersfield, CA, Sharon Gerdes of Fruit Heights, UT, Sandra Kovach (Mike) of Pinedale, WY, Beverley Miller (Bill) of Rock Springs, WY, Robert Boren of Green River, WY, and David Boren (Laurie) of South Weber, UT; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Boyd Eskridge (Beth) of St. George, UT and Deen Eskridge (Marilyn) of Murray, UT; sisters Mazie Walker (Robert) of Cheyenne, WY and Lita Myers of Salt Lake City, UT; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Erma; mother and father; sons Richard, Edward and Michael.

Friends may call at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah on Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 16, 2007 at 12 noon at the Vase Funeral Home in Green River, WY. Friends may call from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services.

Graveside services and interment will be at the River View Cemetery in Green River, WY.
