Gene Lord Obituary (1929 - 2015)

Gene Lord October 1, 1929 - January 1, 2015 Plain City - Gene Lord, 85, passed away on January 1, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 1, 1929 in Lake Worth, Florida to Lynette Kelson Lord. Gene joined the Air Force at age 16, and while stationed at Hill Air Force Base he met the love of his life, Aline Maw, and was married January 13, 1949 in Plain City, Utah. Prior to their marriage, Gene was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he and his sweet wife were sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple 58 years later. Gene worked on the Union Pacific railroad for 35 years. Gene also worked for Bona Vista Water, laying new pipe line when the Water District started, and he drove semi-trucks for Moyes and England Truck companies for many years. Gene enjoyed golfing and especially his bowling. He loved to "pot bowl" with his buddies at Ben Lomond Lanes on a regular basis. He bowled on many leagues, and he and his wife traveled to national tournaments. He continued to bowl until this past year. In his retirement years he dedicated many early mornings to the cleaning, snow removal, and watering of the plants in the parking lot of Ben Lomond Lanes. Gene is survived by his wife of 66 years, Aline, Plain City UT; his children: Galen (Beverly) Lord, Plain City UT; Duff (Susan) Lord, Layton UT; Monette Lord Panter, Plain city UT; Patti (Kent) Booker, Lexington SC. Gene has 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. He adored being surrounded by his great-grandchildren and loved when they would take his hand and lead the way. They were his "angels". Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Lynette; his father and mother-in-law, Abe and Monna Maw, and his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Alene Lord. The family would like to thank Peak Specialty Group (Annette, Ina, and Mike) for their care over the past few weeks. A special thanks to Dr. Van Christiansen and Dr. Chad Tingey for the care and support throughout his life. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Plain City Church, 2952 N. 4200 W. There will be a viewing on Friday, January 9th at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to the service at the Plain City Church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will be at the Plain City Cemetery.
