Cloe Taylor Sturgeon Obituary (1916 - 2007)

Cloe Taylor Sturgeon PLEASANT VIEW - Cloe T. Sturgeon passed away January 3, 2007 at her home, her family was with her. She was 90 years old. She was born in Almo, Idaho on December 1, 1916, the eighth of 11 children born to Harry and Gertrude Taylor. She graduated from Albion State Normal School in Idaho and was valedictorian of her class. Later she received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She taught school for 33 years starting in a one-room school in Juniper, Idaho and ending in Davis County. She met the love of her life Walter W. Sturgeon and they were married in the Logan Temple. They loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and Canada often. She loved rocks and gems, also seashells. Her collections are beautiful. She collected rocks in every state she visited. She could name any rock you showed her. She was a past member of the Gem & Mineral Society. In her younger years she loved to paint and draw and gave paintings to many of her children and grandchildren. Her love of the gospel was great. She spent many hours listening to the tapes of the Bible and Book of Mormon after her eyesight failed her. She had them just about memorized and loved to quote scriptures. She never gave up her love for learning and teaching. She had a genuine love for all the students she taught. She loved her family and always was concerned about all of them. Together she and her husband have six children, Cleve T. Waddoups and Sharol, Brent T. Waddoups and Judy, Lynda and Bob Taylor, David Sturgeon, Dennis Sturgeon and Sherry, Delta and Mike VanZutphen; she has 25 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; three brothers and one great grandson. "Petals of Her Life" As beautiful as a rose to see, Was her life she lived so gracefully. She made things precious by her touch, Her selfless love lives on in each of us. The petals of her life fell one by one, Each a gift of her heart till there were none. Yet her radiance blooms once again In fields of glory with no end.
