Clyde H. Gibson

ROY -- Clyde H. Gibson, 94, of Roy, Utah died Tuesday, December 26, 2006.

Clyde was born August 22, 1912 in Ogden, Utah to Wheatley H. and Sarah Jane Hadley Gibson. He was raised in Ogden City and later lived in the Weber County area.

He married his sweetheart, Madge Hinton, November 24, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised their three boys in Roy where he worked for Rocky Mountain Packing, Pillsbury, Globe Mills, Robins Cannery and Roy City. In 1965 he became Roy Fire Department's first full-time fire chief. He retired from the fire service in 1977. He was an important part of the early organization of Roy City. His knowledge and experience was respected and used by many mayors and city administrators of Roy.

After retiring he enjoyed spending much of his time in Duchesne County. He and Madge spent many days putting their personal touches to "The property." They always enjoyed taking friends and grandkids up to their home away from home.

Madge passed away on February 14, 2001. Shortly after her death Clyde moved to the Peach Tree Place in West Haven, Utah. He made many friends there and will be missed greatly. He spent much of his time being the unofficial, official door greeter there. At the time of his death he was a member of the Peach Tree LDS Branch.

Clyde will always be remembered as a hard-working, well-respected member of the Roy Community.

He is survived by two sons, Brent Gibson of Plain City and Dee Garth Gibson of West Haven; a daughter-in-law, Vee Gibson; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Madge; his son Richard C. Gibson; and two daughters-in-law, Tana Gibson and Stephanie Gibson.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Roy City Cemetery, 5200 South 2300 West. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy prior to services.
