Clyde Earl "Butch" Louk Obituary (1937 - 2015)

Clyde Earl "Butch" Louk Centerville - Clyde Earl "Butch" Louk, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was called home on July 5, 2015 following a lingering illness. He was born on July 15, 1937 in Boone, Iowa to Chester and Doris Edson Louk. As a youth, Clyde was very active in 4H. He graduated from Boone High School where he enjoyed leadership, school politics, and baseball. Clyde and Tom Rinker were political soul mates in school and remained the best of friends. After high school, Clyde attended the University of Iowa prior to enlisting in the Army. Clyde proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years as a radio operator in Germany. He also played for the Army championship baseball team in Europe. At BYU, Clyde was president of the Chess Club, president of the Kiwanis Club, and Chief Justice. He graduated from BYU with a degree in accounting. He married Joann Dray and their marriage was blessed with two sons, Robb and Rand Louk. They later divorced. He married his sweetheart, EvaDeane Berrett, on August 30, 1978. Clyde worked for several accounting firms and the IRS. He taught accounting at Weber State and eventually retired from HAFB as a Tax Accountant. He enjoyed family gatherings, Scrabble and teaching his family. Clyde always encouraged education. He loved traveling with EvaDeane, fishing, golfing and had a zest for life. He loved BYU, sports, Yankees Baseball, EvaDeane's cooking and his #1 barbequed chicken. Clyde was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, held various callings and retained a strong testimony. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, EvaDeane; children, Robb (Sherry) Louk, Rand Louk, stepchildren, Roleane (Dale) Crockett, Collette (Brian) Maruri and Matthew (Sandi) Berrett; daughter-in-law, Marianne Berrett; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and brother, James (Lynn) Louk. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ron Berrett and a granddaughter, Ehren Quinn Berrett. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Myers Layton Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road. A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 12th from 7 to 8 p.m. and prior to services from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Farmington City Cemetery.
