Douglas R.O, Cummings Obituary (1942

Layton, UT - Douglas R. O. Cummings passed away on December 9, 2011. He was born August 20, 1942 to J. Lee and Ellen Whisler Cummings in Gillette, Wyoming. He married Sara Schuster on October 4, 1963. Douglas served in the US Air Force and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 22 years of service. He had a second career in medical equipment and retired from Philips Medical after 16 years, he taught at the Ogden Weber Applied Technology College and in December 2010 he retired from teaching. He was a Harley enthusiast. He served as a Deacon at Mountain View Baptist Church and was very active there. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Kyle. Doug is survived by his wife, Sara; son, Kevin L. (Cathy); four grandchildren, Catalyn (Stephen) Crookston, Ian Cummings, Evan Cummings, and Riley Cummings; and brother, Dr. Jeffrey L. (Kate) Cummings. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church, 2585 East 3000 North, Layton, Utah . Family and friends may gather Tuesday evening from 6- 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary of Layton, 250 North Fairfield Road and Wednesday prior to services at the church from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Layton Memorial Park, 1867 North Fairfield Road, where military honors will be accorded. A special thanks to all those who helped Doug during his illness. Memorial gifts to the family will be divided amongst Doug's favorite charities.
