Dagney Otielia Olson Laing Obituary (1915 - 2008)

BRIGHAM CITY - Dagney Otelia Olson Laing, 93 passed away November 24, 2008 in Santaquin, Utah. She was born October 3, 1915 in Climax, MN a daughter of Carl A. and Amanda Thoreson Olson. She married John Franklin Laing February 14, 1937 in Cowley, WY. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was active throughout her life in the LDS Church and served as a temple worker in the Logan Utah Temple. She served twice as president of the YWMIA, president of Relief Society, secretary of Relief Society, and primary organizations, ward librarian, and served a mission to the Family History Center in Salt Lake City with her husband, and was a faithful visiting teacher throughout her life in the Church. Dagney loved to sing in the church choir, was an excellent seamstress (self taught), cook and homemaker. She is survived by her six children: Julie Ann (John) Gwynn of Lincoln, CA; Carole Kay (Sheldon) Lewis of Rocky Ridge, Utah; Gary (Monte) Laing serving an LDS Mission in Santa Maria Brazil; Richard (JoAnn) Laing serving an LDS Mission in Bankok Thailand; Steven (Debbie) Laing of Brigham City, Utah; Pauline (Eric) Clyde of Folsom, CA: 41 grandchildren, 130 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Anna Johnson of Bountiful, UT: Viola Averett of Brigham City, UT; and one brother: Vincent Olson of Orem, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City North Stake Center, 620 N. 300 E., Brigham City. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
