Daisy Griffin

OGDEN: Mother Daisy Griffin departed this life on April 2, 2006 in Ogden. She was born January 27, 1926 to the late Lonnie and Rosie Lee Kelley Green in Scott, Arkansas.

She received her early education in Scott, Arkansas and attended Scott High School. She married David F. Griffin on March 8, 1945 in Scott, Arkansas. They made their home in Ogden, Utah. She worked for the Ogden Defense Depot and the Eccles Family for over thirty years.

She served faithfully with her husband in founding the Griffin Temple Church of God in Christ in West Ogden, now Griffin Memorial, for forty-four years until his death in 1989. She worked in numerous Church capacities and served as Jurisdictional Supervisor of Women for the past 24 years.

Mother Griffin has impacted the Church and the northern Utah Community for 60 years. Among her notable recognitions are: Utah State Auxiliaries Convention Service Award, Spirit of Ogden Recognition Award and Ogden Community Action Pacesetters Award.

She is survived by a loving sister Mildred (Herman) McGhee, N. Little Rock, AR.; three grandchildren, Gylonda Moseley, Dallas, TX., Vernon Moseley, Los Angeles, CA., Dana Moseley, Little Rock, AR.; a special niece Rosemary Booth, N. Little Rock, AR. and a host of relatives, church family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Ruth Moseley and two brothers, Theodis and Willie Green.

Funeral services will be held Monday April 10, 2006, at 11:00 at the Griffin Memorial Church of God in Christ, 2424 E Avenue in Ogden with Bishop Bobby Allen officiating.

Family hour will be at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The body will lie in state at Griffin Memorial on Monday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park.
