Darletha Scott Obituary (1951 - 2024)

Darletha Scott passed away Sunday, January 14th, of 2024, following a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. During her 5-year battle, her family surrounded her with love until God called her and said suffer no more, come into peace beloved daughter as your life was well done. Darletha was born on August 29, 1951, in Ogden, UT. She was the last of nine children born to Jessie Ann Richard and George (Jabo) Scott Sr. She maintained very close relationships with her siblings, they meant everything to her, they took care of each other. Darletha was the favorite fun aunt, lovingly called "Auntie" by her nieces, nephews and many others. She was a mother to more than just her children and had the unique ability of making everyone feel special and loved. She was the life of the party and created so many priceless, memorable, and hilarious moments that will live on forever with her loved ones. She was quick-witted, funny, compassionate and always there to provide support in whatever way needed. She was truly an example of what a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, cousin, manager, and friend should be. After graduating from Ogden High School, she married Albert Ross and together they raised five children. She also was instrumental in raising several of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Darletha retired as a manager from Wide Horizons Care Center after a 23-year career ensuring that the resident patients received quality care. She enjoyed shooting pool, especially with nephews and her brother Donald. She loved music, playing cards, dominos, dancing, attending her kids and grandkids sporting events, and watching basketball, especially the Lakers. Her true passion was taking care of people, she loved people and people loved her! Darletha was preceded in death by her mother (Jesse Ann), father (George Sr), five brothers: George Jr., Jesse, Galveston (Sonny), Sylvester, and Donald, and two sisters: Ella and Christie Belle. She is survived by her sister, Bennie Mae Hopkins, her daughters, Stephanie (Reggie), Ebony, Sumayya (Ryan), and Charee, her son, Elrachio, and grandchildren: Lakaiya, Nalayia, Malik, Malakai, Dupree, DeOntay, Charles (Junior), Maurion, Mazsin, and Gage. As well as countless nephews, nieces, and cousins.
