Darrell Eldridge Stucki
WILLARD- Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Darrell E. Stucki passed away at his home May 7, 2012 after an 18 month battle with cancer. Darrell was born April 15, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Adolf and Clara Eleanor Miskin Stucki. He grew up in Coltman, Idaho attended school in Ucon, Idaho and learned the value of hard work on the family farm.
He served a mission to the Eastern/Central States. He married the love of his life, Nila Jean Oswald, on November 26, 1952, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They would have celebrated 60 years together later this year.
He helped build the Palisades Dam, worked at the Atomic Energy Plant at Arco, Idaho, then moved to Willard, Utah in 1961 and started a 32 year career as a master sheetmetal journeyman with Seashore Sheetmetal. Monuments to his skill remain for the world to enjoy, from the copper roof of the Utah State Capitol Building, to the statues and turrets of the Salt Lake City County Building, to the re-covered dome of the Historic Tabernacle on Temple Square, to the spires of the Logan Temple.
He was active in the community as a founder of the Willard Lions Club, involved with Little League Baseball, and named Willard 2008 Citizen of the Year.
He lived his life consistent with his testimony of the Savior. Called to serve in many capacities within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he enjoyed most serving with his sweet wife as missionaries in the Orlando Florida Mission, temple workers in the Ogden Temple, and team teaching the Temple Preparation lessons at the time of his death.
He loved his fellow man, everyone was his friend. He especially cherished his family, and was never too busy to share time, counsel, or best of all, a juicy peach from his orchard.
Darrell is survived by his wife Nila, children: Darcel (Teena), Layton; Pamela (Kirk) Bragger, Willard; Darlene (Brent) Wyatt, Brigham City; Delwin (Dixie), No. Ogden; Diane (Dave) Berglund, No. Ogden; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren.
