Darrell M. Tracy Obituary (1931 - 2004)

Darrell M. Tracy Born in Ogden, a son of Rulon H. and Thelma Stanger Tracy on October 16, 1931 and died at the age of 72 on September 5, 2004. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1949 and was a member of the LDS Church. He served in the US Navy from 1951-1953 aboard the Bon Homme Richard Aircraft carrier during the Korean Conflict. He married Susie Bohon in 1953 in Ogden and were later divorced. He married Dana Furhiman Birch on August 15, 1978 in Roy. They were later divorced. Trace graduated from Weber college in 1955 with an Associate of Science degree. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah in 1957. He worked for the Marquardt Co. in Van Nyes, CA and Ogden as a Development Supervisor for 5 years. From 1962 to 1976, he worked at Hill AFB as Lead Engineer for Aircraft and Missile Systems. Trace was an avid hunter and fisherman. He has taken many trophy deer and elk and greatly enjoyed his salmon fishing trips to Alaska. He was an accomplished trapshooter. He was a Director and lifetime member of the Ogden Gun Club and had won many trophies and prizes. At the Utah State Shoot (year 2000) in Spanish Fork, he won his class singles, handicap and high-overall with a score of 385 out of 400. Surviving are the following sons and daughters; D. Scott (Danna) Tracy, West Point; Christal T. (Blair) Holley, Hooper; Vicki T. (Brent) PoVey, Taylor; Kathy T. (Carl) Bastian, South Weber; Robin T. (John) Berenyi, Roy; Michelle T. (Mike) Evans, Morgan; Blaine J. Tracy, Salt Lake City; 25 grand children, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dean Rulon Tracy and Robert Lee Tracy. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Boyd. The family would like to thank Hospice of Utah especially Dr. Holland and Lisa for the care and love extended to them.
