Daurel H Barnes Click here to listen to Funeral Recording Daurel H Barnes (Sr.), age 79, of Liberty passed away on August 18, 2013. He was born Sept. 24, 1933, the son of George Earl and Melva Hadley Barnes. Mr. Barnes has resided in Weber Country his entire life and was educated in Weber County Schools. He attended Weber State, University of Utah (B.S.) and Utah State University (MS). He taught history in Weber School District from 1959-1986. He had a great love for history. He taught Seminary from 1986-1992. In 1952 he married Carol Jean Poulson in the Salt Lake Temple. He was always amazed at her greatness and beauty. He served as Bishop in Liberty from 1968 to 1973 and Huntsville Stake President from 1986-1994. He served missions in the East Central States 1954-1956 and with his wife in Western Samoa 1994-1996. He served as a Stake Patriarch from September 2000 to 2013. His wife, Carol, served as his secretary until she passed away in 2006. Mr. Barnes loved football and basketball and participated in those sports in his early years. His greatest happiness was in his family. He loved the valley and its great people. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Barnes and two grandchildren. Daurel is survived by his children, David Barnes (Penny), Dale Barnes (Jamie), Daurel Jr. Barnes (Deanne) and Julie Vaatuitui (Toia), 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 12 pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the LDS Church in Liberty, Utah. No viewing will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Myers Ogden Mortuary.
