David Craven

David Edward Craven, 66, was born in Salt Lake City on February 3, 1958, to Charles Moore and Sarah "Eleanor" Craven. He returned home to his Father in Heaven on June 25, 2024.
David spent his first few years in Provo. As a young child his family moved to Ogden, where he spent the rest of his life. He enjoyed time on his grandfather's farm in Springville, where he spent his childhood helping with chores and hunting. Many memories were made with his dad and his brother, Ralph, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed time on the farm with his cousins, developing life-long memories and relationships.
After graduating from Ogden High School, David went on to attend Weber State University and Brigham Young University, where he received his
bachelor's in mechanical engineering.
David, a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, served a two-year mission in the Des Moines Iowa area. He served in many capacities for the Church, including as a scout leader. He enjoyed serving the youth and sharing that same passion he shared with his sons in helping the young men learn new skills.
Later he met his eternal companion, Bonnie Lynne Craven, through a mutual friend. They were married on May 19,1989 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised two sons, Jeremy John, and Derek Edward. David shared his passion for the great outdoors with his sons, spending many seasons in the mountains hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. Many years were spent working and relaxing at the William Oswald Ranch, one of his favorite places to be.
One of David's greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren, Avery, William and Benjamin. With Avery, he enjoyed supporting her in her passions, including softball and horse riding. Together they spent many hours in the backyard practicing softball. David was William's best friend. He was always up for anything William wanted his Papa to do, including walks around the yard and trips to Lagoon. Though he only had a short time with Benjamin, his eyes would light up as Benjamin held his hand.
David is survived by his wife, Bonnie, his two sons, Jeremy Craven and Derek (Alyssa) Craven. His three grandchildren, Avery, William, and Benjamin. Brother Ralph (Barb) and many others including his nieces, nephew, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles, and Eleanor.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on July 3, 2024, at West Weber Cemetery, 4252-4302 W 950 N, Ogden, UT 84404.
