Ogden, Utah
Dayna Nicole Swenson, a spirited soul born on the 10th of May, 1974, in Ogden, UT, USA, lived a life that was as vibrant and dark as the twang of the guitars she loved to play. Her smart mind, adventurous spirit, and courageous heart hid her many struggles. Dayna’s journey here may have concluded on the 20th of September, 2025, but her spirit continues its cosmic adventure.
Dayna could light up a room with her energy. She was a truck driver by profession, but her interests were as vast as the open road she traversed. An avid lover of nature, Dayna found her peace amidst God's creations. Hunting, reloading her own ammunition, and camping were among her favorite pastimes. Her courage and adventurous spirit were evident in everything she did - from mastering guitar to her care and devotion to her cat-companions, Morticia and Wednesday. As Mark Twain said, "Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear."
Beyond her adventurous pursuits, Dayna held a deep spiritual faith. She believed in life after death, and this belief brought a unique hope to her life. Dayna struggled with mental illness and it is her family’s quiet hope that Dayna has found peace. Dayna was married on the 29th of July, 2012, in a beautiful ceremony that reflected both her love for her partner and her zest for life.
Dayna was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Aggie Jensen, her grandparents, Harry and Jackie Stone; cousins, Harry Howard and Wayne Law, and special aunts and uncles. She carries their memory with her on her eternal journey, weaving their love into the tapestry of her own everlasting spirit. Yet, while we mourn her departure, let's also celebrate her life, remembering her for the smart, spirited, adventurous, and courageous person she was.
Dayna is survived by Samone, her wife and dear friend, whose love endured despite their separation. Also surviving Dayna are siblings, Lora (Chad) Geilman, Kristy Jensen-Rees, and Steve (Sonya) Jensen. Out of previous relationships, Dayna is survived by four special children, Tiniesha, Sara, Sharron, and Wesley. Dayna also leaves behind aunts, uncles cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family, along with dedicated friends.
In honor of Dayna, we encourage everyone to share their favorite memories and upload photos to her memorial page.
