Ogden - Our loving husband, father and grandfather, Dean Hunsaker Ahlmer, passed away on Feb. 5, 2009.

Born to Gustav Rudolph Ahlmer and Margaret Theressa Hunsaker on Sept. 20, 1929 in Ogden, Utah, Dad was raised by Melvin and Dorothy Hunsaker in Honeyville, Utah, after the passing of his mother. He enjoyed riding horses and working on their farm. Graduating from Box Elder High School, he earned a scholastic scholarship to Weber State. He worked his way through college, graduating in the top 5 of his class at Utah State University. On June 10, 1953, he married Joanne Anderson in the Logan LDS Temple.

After working at Producers Livestock, Dad and Mom moved to Fort Knox, KY where he became a 1st Lieutenant in the Army, 3rd Armored Division. Upon returning to Ogden, Dad worked at DDO and Hill AFB where he retired with 40 years of government service.

Dad was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many leadership positions including bishop.

Sports, dancing, and playing ping-pong and checkers with his grandchildren were activities he enjoyed. Most of all Dad loved to help people and had a gift of making everyone he met feel important, especially his family.

Dad is survived by his wife and children: Diane and Brent Richardson, Ogden; Teresa and Tom Gillins, Ogden; Steven and Tami Ahlmer, Craig, CO; Spencer and Jill Judd, Las Vegas, NV; 24 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Burbank, Deweyville; and brothers Spencer Ahlmer, Ogden; Max and Arlene Hunsaker, Ogden; Verlo and Leanne Hunsaker, Willard.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Marsha Judd.

Funeral services will be held Sat., Feb. 14th at 11 am in the LDS Chapel at 880 Harrison Blvd., with viewings at the chapel on Fri., Feb. 13th from 6 to 8 pm and Sat., 9:30 to 10:30 am.

Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
