Dean Stanley Chidester
November 28, 1940 - October 9, 2026
Dean Chidester, a man known for his quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and remarkable skills as a craftsman, passed away on October 9, 2026. Dean was a lifelong resident of Utah, having been raised in Sandy before building his life, Brigham City, and finally settling in Honeyville for 23 memorable years. After attending Jordan High School, he soon found his passion and purpose in the intricate world of flooring. For 40 years, Dean was a stalwart figure at Custom Floors in Salt Lake City, where he meticulously installed flooring.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dean was a man who loved fully. He married Carolyn Marie Mumm on April 20, 1963, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were married for 28 years until her passing on September 21, 1991. He later married Vickie Nelson on October 23, 1999, in Brigham City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Bountiful Temple on December 6, 2003.
He had an endearing fondness for building and fixing anything he could lay his hands on. He loved going to the movies and dancing, but it was his quiet, friendly demeanor and unyielding work ethic that truly defined him. Dean was someone who loved his family unconditionally, always protective and fiercely loyal to them.
Dean was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Sunday School Presidency, a Primary Teacher and a Scout Leader. He and Vickie served a Mission at the Brigham City Bishop Storehouse, and also served a mission together as a Brigham City Temple as Cleaning Coordinators. Dean's life was a beautiful testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and craftsmanship.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Glen Madison and Doris Miller Chidester, his wife Carolyn; son Bradley Dean; his siblings Robert D. Chidester, Verl Chidester, Philip Chidester and Sharon Sample.
He is survived by his wife Vickie May Stone Chidester, his children; Stanely (Tammy) Chidester, Daniel (Mary) Chidester, and Rodney (Elizabeth) Chidester; his stepchildren, Lovisa (Dustin) McBee, Luke (Kortney) Nelson and Jerald (Leilani) Nelson; his siblings; Carolyn Cox, Larry (Judy) Chidester and his sister-in-law Judy Alley and 17 grandchildren and 6 great-children.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to family, friends, and neighbors for the friendship and love given to Dean.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Honeyville 1st Ward, located at 2620 West 6980 North, Honeyville, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. also at the church. Interment will be held at the Honeyville City Cemetery.
