Deb Hideharu Kawaguchi Obituary (1927 - 2010)

Deb Hideharu Kawaguchi SYRACUSE - Deb Hideharu Kawaguchi, age 83, passed away peacefully in his new home in Syracuse after a five year battle with cancer. He was born to Ichitaro "Ike" and Jun Matsudaira Kawaguchi on January 31, 1927, in Roy, Utah. Deb graduated from Davis High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1950, part of which time was spent in U.S. occupied Japan. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on March 16, 1950. Deb's enjoyment in life came from farming, family and friends. He was a lifetime farmer in Davis County. He married Mary Masuye Fujikawa on January 25, 1964, and had three children. One of his greatest joys were his three grandchildren. Deb never met a stranger and enjoyed conversing with all. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Shige Kawaguchi;Ike Kawaguchi Jr. and sisters, Tsuneko Nakamura, and Kazuko Kawahara. Deb is survived by his loving wife, Mary, children, Deana (Phil) Padelsky, Darren Kawaguchi, Dawn Kawaguchi; grandchildren, Kirk, McCall and Dawson Padelsky; siblings, Yo (Marcia) Kawa, Tami Shimabukuro, Kikuko Tawatari, Mitzi Kawaguchi, Aiko (Robert) Flowers, Noriko (Melvin) Swanson, and Yaeko Bryner; and many other cherished family members and friends. Special thanks to the entire staff at Utah Cancer Center, VistaCare Hospice, and all his friends at Moore's Family Restaurant. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy. Family and friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery, 1290 South 1000 West.
